World Beard and Moustache Championships 2023 - CANCELLED

It's with deep sadness and heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of 2023 World Beard and Moustache Championships.

We know that this will come as an enormous disappointment. This is not a decision we have taken lightly and there are several overriding concerns that have caused us to make this decision at this time.

Our primary concern is always the responsibility we feel towards our attendants from all over the world as competitors, exhibitors or partners.  Whilst only a short time ago we felt optimistic that February 2023 was far enough away to confidently proceed with our plans, the uncertainty caused by the fact that New Zealand borders are not fully open and, even when that happens, visitors will be obliged to spend some time in self-isolation, makes it impossible for us to guarantee the one thing that our community trust us above all else to deliver - namely a large- scale, high quality event.

We have tried today to take the best decision and we are so thankful for the support that has already been shown to us. We are already working hard in the background as we intend to bid for a future world competition -  2027 or 2029 - hoping that you can all visit our beautiful country.

The World Beard and Moustache Association is currently collecting bids from WBMA members and will vote on a host club/destination for the 2023 WBMC by the end of March 2022.

New Zealand

Our country is full of surprises and visitors will fall in love with the variety of attractions and activities that we have to offer.

What a better opportunity to come to the ‘land of the big white cloud’ than being part of such unique event like the WBMC.

In Auckland you will find a vibrant city surrounded by immaculate beaches, native forest and several islands all at the palm of your hand. Stay a few more days and discover what this country has to offer.

We want visitors to have time to plan different activities in Auckland, the surrounding areas or even better, the rest of New Zealand.

March 2021 is the last off-shoulder month of the calendar year in terms of being a ‘tourist season' in New Zealand, and is arguably one of the best months in which to visit.

March 2021 weather is almost perfect to walk around shopping zones, galleries and parks.

For fans of hiking and outdoor adventure, Auckland offers a variety of bush walks, hidden cascades, spectacular landscapes and tourist adventures.
